This is the first time I judged at the Sunset Magazine International Wine Competition. They had so many wines to taste that they needed some extra people to help. I was happy to be included. My panel tasted 28 Chardonnays, 25 Viogniers, 5 boxed white wines, 34 Pinot noirs, and 15 Petit verdot.
As described at the International Women’s Wine Competition that I tasted earlier in June, we had to get our temperature checked when we walked in the door, dump our wine out ourselves, and several other tasks to be in compliance with the Sonoma County Health Department.
I enjoyed seeing some friends and doing something out of my house. Its a strange time. Its a blessing to have a day that feels rather normal.
