Save the Date: Similkameen Valley Foray & Feast
Manning Park, British Columbia · June 1–4, 2026 (Monday–Thursday)
We’re delighted to announce the Similkameen Valley Foray & Feast, an upcoming regional foray produced by the North American Mycological Society (NAMA) in partnership with the Vancouver Mycological Society. Based out of the beautiful Manning Park Resort, this four-day gathering brings fungi lovers together in one of British Columbia’s most compelling spring landscapes.
Set in the Similkameen Valley during peak burn-morel season, this guided foray offers a rare chance to explore post-fire forest zones where fire morels flourish. By day, participants will venture into recently burned areas to learn how to read burn-site indicators, refine identification skills, and better understand the unique ecology that triggers these extraordinary mushroom flushes.
Evenings return you to the comfort of the mountain lodge at Manning Park, where warm meals, local wines, and shared stories round out the day. It’s a convivial setting to compare finds, deepen friendships, and celebrate the pleasures of foraging life—whether you’re crossing the border for the morels or following the spring burn flushes closer to home.
The program also includes hands-on culinary workshops, voucher and DNA-sequencing work with the MycoMap BC Network, presentations by Canadian mycologists, and memorable meals created by NAMA Culinary Arts Committee Chair Chef Julie Schreiber, joined by an exceptional roster of culinary talent. Notably, this will be NAMA’s first Canadian foray since 2006.
Registration will be capped at 100 participants.
